Who Are You Actually Picking?

Here’s the state of play.

Spain are in. They beat France 2-0 on Tuesday and looked like the better team throughout. The numbers behind them are hard to argue with: one goal conceded in seven matches this entire tournament, and 36 games unbeaten — they haven’t lost since March 2024.

They’re the bookmakers’ favourite now, and for good reason.

Their opponent is decided tonight. England vs Argentina in Atlanta, 3am Malaysian time. The market can barely split them.

If England go through, it’s their first World Cup final since 1966. Their route past Spain is set pieces — Rice’s delivery onto Kane is one of the best weapons in the tournament, and Spain would have to defend every one of them perfectly.
